I personally own Finnmotion pedals.. they are pretty good.. a big, huge improvement from the plastic pedals.. You could get ACT Labs shifter from one UK retailer reasoanble cheap, but i dont want one of those either.. not the best longevity i hear.. SST lightning is the shifter ive been looking for.. but shipping from US + the finnish tax would make the cost bit too steep.. its a crap situation really.. i hope some finnish DIY guy starts building few shifters for sale, im sure quite many would buy a decent quality shifter around here.
Doesnt change the fact that its utter crap and at best "ok" solution to go with. Do you have any black on white about the microswitches? IE what are they used for? Cant see one need for microswitches looking at the internals.. if i didnt have great pedals and ok wheel i might go for G25.. but id rather get a good shifter next.. I made my choice between my pedals and G25 once, and must say ive been so satisfied i did the choice i did! Not to take ya down as a whole G25 is an ok deal, but for someone who mainly wishes to get a shifter it makes no sense whatsoever.
Yes it is, same technology. On my cheap joystick there are two pots (like in G25 shifter) to define the position... then theres only the lock to gear mechanism that differs it from a joystick.. few buttons with cheap switches just like in normal cheap joystick.. hell.. even the centering spring mechanism is 100% same as in joysticks...
Hmm, interesting.. its used to match the revs to allow earlier downshifting to use engine braking if im correct?
But shifting down later should work just as well i reckon!
Takes testing.. ive never really looked into it more!
If there is, dont do it. Only thing adjusting "steering sensitivity" will do is cause the steering to be non linear effecting a poor feeling. So i would just adjust the steering lock separately with every setup, after all.. you might want it little different for different cars.
Hey all.
Im an admin at Simjunkies.org, we run several leagues with various games, we also run many game servers. Im starting a live for speed server, and my question is. How to make our server licenced? I know we might share voucher codes for members and were planning competitions.. but should i use one to use on our dedicated box?
I felt bit aggrivated by it at first.. but now that ive had some practice today.. and ive had lil wine.. all i can do is accept that its a great chance to finally learn heel and toe properly.. i wish i could find a decent shifter from this country.. ive been looking for one over a year... and dont mention G25.. im not paying craploads for nice wheel, mediocre pedals (i already have great ones), and cheap joystic technology converted to a shifter with software.
Heres a nice site to show off what you have, and see what others have done! The site admin is a great guy, and the site deserves all the attention possible.
Theres some really nice cockpits people have built, and other stuff too.

Compressed textures, no compressed textures, low rez and high rez.. no AA and 2xAA, Level of detail to see polycount effect in various settings, Mirrors on off, mirror detail higher/lower.. guess what.. perfectly same FPS with every setting.. so i was right.. its rather my AMD Athlon 64 3200+ failing than Geforce 7600gt.
Any way to reduce stress on processor in the game? And dont tell me about windows tweaks, im well enlightened with those.
EDIT:Fixed typos... damn Africans.. making too good Shiraz takes the sharpness out the man!
I dont think its my GFX card failing, must be CPU rather. I ran it before 2xAA 16xAF with high frames but now even without AA it does that.. so i guess the new physics calculations just cause it..
I havent really raced with big grid on any other track after patch though.. well.. i guess i have to click GFX from "quality" to "best performance" and see what that does.
I was just getting several people to buy this game, and many have/will get it but i must say the new patch has put them off in many ways. (casual simracers more than ones with pro attitude)
Im happy, as long as im having fun.. if im not having fun.. ill just ditch LFS and have still large amount of great sims to enjoy.
The reason for me being slower with heel and toe is simply that braking and getting on throttle take time to get used to (allthough ive managed for example some top10 times in GTL with H&T, im quite inexperienced with the technique). Putting some serious thought in practice should help.. and frankly theres only 3 things to make you really faster in Simracing.. practice, practice and practice.
One thing that ive noticed with the patch is that the frames have significantly dropped, i even had some serious issues in South city playing on pubs last night.. It used to be stable 70-100 but now its dropping at times to 20-30! Any idea what could cause this?
I just spent quite few laps testing cars and flatshifting.. i ran RAC, XRT, LX6 and FZ5.. i was flatshiftin all the time.. on autoclutch.. and the clutch barely heated.. so it obviously dont prevent flatshifting after all.. *Scrathes head*
EDIT:Not to mention the shifting speed was as fast as with lifting..
H-Pattern 6 speed gearbox & clutch.
Racing clutch etc.. but not used by this driver (he came from single seaters)
Any gearbox without syncromesh and straight cut gear can be changed wihout a clutch.
Hell if you're good at it, you can do it in your average road car!"
And all the wannabe elitists.. I like realism.. but i dont like it when i dont have an option, for example for cut and blip. Better option would have been forced cut and blip for those who wish to use autoclutch. It would have simply made flatshifting impossible, and realism freaks could clutch themselves and cut and blip as much as their heart desires.. Now someone will say i like realism but dont have clutch pedal.. well when many here you are yelling at people to get a wheel to play a realistic game.. get a bloody clutch pedal to play it realistically!
EDIT:Oh yeah the way i mentioned would also give manual clutchers a slight advantage as it should be..
